From the kabbalistic point of view, the human being is a perfect manifestation of the Universe because he was made in the image of God. He is the highest ranked creature on Earth and everything that exists in the Universe is found on a smaller scale, in him. According to Hermetism, man represents the Universe in miniature, that is to say that he is the microcosm while the universe is the macrocosm.
We can divide the human being into three parts — physical body, psychic body and mental body:
- These three bodies are united among themselves by a subtle link (mental matrix and astralo-etheric matrix);
- The physical body is kept alive by food (which is only a densification of the elements);
- The astral body lives only through respiration;
- The five physical and psychic senses have the ability to capture thanks to the mental matrix — or link.
A Kabbalist who takes part in the Great Work of the Universe is then usually chosen by Divine Providence to accomplish some Missions. He is therefore the representative of this Creation but he remains the faithful servant of the Cosmic Laws and the more he rises in Initiation the more he becomes humble towards Divine Providence. He is, in fact, in the possession of the Greatest Power; however, he will never use the latter to satisfy his own needs but only to do good to Humanity. The true Kabbalist is the highest initiate there is and for whom nothing is impossible; every word he says always becomes reality.
Whoever seeks only Holiness neglects his physical body and the material plane, which he consider to be “Mâyâ”, an illusion. He manifests in himself, after adequate training, only a very small limited number of the Divine Aspects of himself.
